Online Group Classes
Learn to play an instrument, sing, write songs, produce and explore music via Bach to Rock’s new, online group classes. There are a variety of 45 minute, weekly classes to choose from. All online classes are delivered via Zoom and include live instruction. Classes run for 10 weeks.
In B2R group classes, students learn how to play their instrument in a safe, live and engaging virtual environment.
An important facet of the B2R methodology is the use of songs that are popular among the students as well as introducing them to other styles. Mastering current “pop” tunes is motivating for the students and earns them recognition from their peers.
For all classes, students will need a device (mobile, tablet or computer) compatible with Zoom.

B2R’s Fun With Music class introduces students to the drums, guitar, piano, ukulele, and singing! Students learn the parts of each instrument and the basics of playing each in ten 45-minute sessions. Students do not need any musical experience or an instrument to participate! This class is perfect for any student unsure of which instrument he or she would like to play. After taking this class, students may want to choose an instrument and participate in the Drum, Guitar, Piano, Ukulele or Voice program!
Drums 101 gives students the opportunity to apply their rhythmic knowledge to the entire drum set. We will use contemporary music in order to develop an understanding of the drummer’s role in a band. The students will focus on coordination techniques as well as drum rudiments in order to build the confidence to play different styles of music. We will learn to listen to other instruments and how a drummer interacts with these instruments while laying the foundation for the rest of the band to play on top of.
Guitar 101 will focus on the group aspect of guitar performance. As Guitar 101 takes the student through the basics of their instrument and music theory, Guitar 101 will focus more on creating multi-part music as an ensemble, with the end result being a recording made in the studio and a performance at the end of the session. Students will learn and play together in a team-like atmosphere, motivating and encouraging each other to practice and perform.
Group piano class provides students with an excellent introduction to the keyboard and prepares them for more serious private study as well as playing in a band/ensemble. Most importantly, students will begin to develop the skill of playing music with their peers which provides a lifelong benefit.
Students will learn the basics of ukulele in an interactive group setting. Starting with the fundamentals of ukulele and music theory, students will learn everything they need to start playing songs quickly. Students will learn and play together in a team-like atmosphere, motivating and encouraging each other to practice and perform.
Students will sing in a variety of styles, rock and pop through classical, learning essential skills such as voice projection, the creation of a clear vocal tone and correct breathing techniques while gaining a greater understanding of melody in music. Students learn vocal technique, rhythm, intonation and listening skills and apply these to a song.
Using industry standard Serato software, students begin learning what it takes to be a DJ in ten 45-minute sessions. Students will learn Serato software concepts like building song crates, making cue points and looping. Other DJ fundamentals like basic scratching, beat counting and song structure will also be taught. To participate in this class, students need a computer (Mac or PC) with Serato Lite (it’s free!) installed AND a second computer or mobile device (a tablet is suggested) to view the lessons. No musical experience or DJ hardware is required!
